The lauch of this new self-guided trail around St Albans took place at the Comfort Hotel on Holywell Hill, the original office buildings for Ryder & Sons (opened in 1911). Samuel's granddaughter Mary Moore, his great niece Yvonne Larg and distant cousin Diana Kearsley attended. Speeches made included those given by the Mayor of St Albans, Cllr Maxine Crawley, Cllr Sheila Burton and the chairman of the Foundaction Bryan Hanlon. Peter Fry, author of "Samuel Ryder, The Man Behind the Ryder Cup" was also present.
